In this class, we will read papers from the primary literature that address important questions in ecology using study systems from our region, the Interior Northwest. We will also visit sites where we can observe the systems we read about, gain familiarity with the species in questions, and develop our own hypotheses. We will consider topics ranging from the factors determing the success of non-native invasive species to the co-evolution of trees and seed predators. I am also very open to student suggestions for topics.
